Website, scripts, sound, filming, etc...
miraclemasters.me
This is the domain name I have purchased for the website, opposed to buying miracleofcrowdfunding.com, I went for miraclemasters.me because it is neutral and means I can use it for my year 2 campaign and any other campaigns I have to do as part of my masters.
Another thing with domain names is that you have to renew them yearly. I currently have six domains, so already that's £60 per year.
It also nicely sums up the 3 main points of this whole thing:
- miracle - The Miracle of Crowdfunding a.k.a. what is crowdfunding?
- masters - Outlining my masters.
- .me - Introducing me and my potential.
However, this campaign is called The Miracle of Crowdfunding, it will just be found at www.miraclemasters.me
I was working on the website for most of sunday; I had some fun writing what will become the frequently asked questions section, it currently at 4 pages long.
I am going to launch the website BEFORE I launch the campaign either on 17th or 20th August and the idea is the website will hit town, when the teaser hits town and then I can use to build up some interest and anticipation for when the project actually launches.
And unlike a video, a website can be easily altered.
However, I need to snap a header graphic for it on Round Hill, something akin to this...
... but with me present in it and with enough space so that I can put text over it.
My Masters Campaign Film - new name
I have now retitled the film from
A Masters Campaign Film
to
My Masters Campaign film
as it makes it more personal and links nicely with the new domain name.
You see, you have to think about this, how the entirety of a single brand is all telling and selling one story. The filmmakers who ignore this fact are the ones who are going extinct.
My Masters Campaign Film - new intro
There is going to be a new draft of the script - draft 9 - that includes a few alterations, but nothing that really overrides what we have already shot, it is mainly being driven by how I am editing the footage I have already shot.
However, I have solved the problem of the length issue, i.e. of people switching off until they get to the end.It came to me while I was cycling back to Bristol
The solution
We start the film with a very simple and scripted 30-50 second video of me talking to camera pitching my campaign like every other crowdfunding campaign out there, but pointing out how incredibly generic this is and if people REALLY to know what it is I ahve to offer and why they fund me, then they should keep watching
CUT TO:
A single blade of grass...
However, I may still produce an alternative cut down version of the full thing as well.
The teaser and the epilogue - new drafts
There will be new drafts, nothing too drastic, just a few alterations to bring them in line with everything else.
Footage and sound - The Example Interview
The whole of the following interview needs to be re-done becasue the because the sound is atrocious...
You can't really tell in this short clip because YouTube has softened it out somewhat, but the sound quality can be a lot better than it was as originally shot.
Therefore, first thing Tuesday, we go in and see Rich, get him to give the kit a once over, take in what we he shows us and get him to give us some new cables. I'll bring my duck tape, just in case.
However, we need to re-do the interview anyway, after watching back all of my response and putting together the FAQ page for the website I can see what are the main points I need to hit AND how to do it concisely.
Additionally, I am now inclined to agree that the composition of the shot in relation to where I a sitting (as in the above clip) is the best way to go with it.
Footage and sound - Commons interview
We have to re-do the following bit because someone had their finger over the microphone!
It doesn't matter anyway, watching it back I have worked out the best line to say on the end of what I already say that we better transition the cut into what follows.
Probably re-do the first bit as well where I say "This video needs to do 3 things..." in the footage I come across as very deflated - exactly what we don't need in the opening montage of the film. It needs to be enthusiastic and bursting with energy.
Magic hour on Round Hill
I will get my raw and red magic hour on round hill!
And when it hits we are going to shoot the absolute best footage and sound AND I will give my best performance, now that I know what to do after watching it in one of the takes we did on Thursday.
WE ARE GOING TO GET THIS FOOTAGE
Fuck the weather!
Today
I am going to review the edit, what has been shot, get the new drafts done, write down my interview points for tomorrow and reset my sleeping pattern again.
The priority this week is getting the uni and round hill footage done. We can worry about the Bristol stuff next week, I will also invest in some new batteries.
Nothing stops this train. NOTHING!
